AGAK – ESKWELA PROGRAM
The AGAK program is short for Action Generating Aksyon. This means USC initiates action steps to help the community assess their problems and needs, helps them decide courses of action but in the end allows the community themselves to do what they can do for themselves. AGAK in Cebuano means to lead by the hand or to guide closely.
The USC Mission statement emphasizes the formation of professionals dedicated to regional and national development and human advancement and ensures a Christian presence characterized by learning in the light of the Catholic faith and the missionary commitment of the Society of the Devine Word.
USC – CES adopts the AGAK – ESKWELA Program to answer to this mission call. This is reaching out and offering academic extension services to the different high schools in Cebu as the university’s contribution towards a better society. AGAK – ESKWELA will be a way by which USC can lead these high school students and faculty by the hand to guide them closely.
The AGAK-ESKWELA Program offers free lectures and seminars to be given to both faculty and students per request by the school principal. Since this is an academic extension program of the university, there will be no obligation of any kind expected from the beneficiary schools.
The beneficiary school will take responsibility in arranging the schedule of the lecture that will not interfere with their academic program. Such lectures may be given in the form of monthly alternative classroom activity or as enhancement courses offered through clubs.
