Support for our flagship research programs in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, education, and humanities has been obtained mainly from government grants through the Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Science and Technology, and smaller grants from industries and local governments.
Thirty-one researchers are enjoying research deloading from the University in the 1st semester of AY 2017–18. Research deloading allow faculty-researchers to obtain release time from teaching responsibilities to dedicate their efforts on their projects. The Office of Research manages the University Research Trust Fund, which also provides seed money for projects that have no external funding.
External grants are managed by a Grants Management Office for Research under the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The office provides oversight over the financial management of projects and ensures that obligations toward the funding agencies are delivered.
