A Healthy Snack Alternative: Vegetable Shake and Pita Veggie
Go green, think green, eat green is the promotional tagline of student enterprise V Healthy Partnership which offers two healthy snack alternative: vegetable shake and pita veggie.
The innovativeness of its product was its competitive edge when it was declared first runner up in the Regional Finals of the 2009 business plan competition sponsored by Junior Chamber International Philippines-Manila and JCIP Zugbuana last Saturday, May 16, 2009.
The vegetable shake comes in three flavors: carrots, bitter melon (also known as Ampalaya) and cucumber. Fresh vegetables are used and not artificial flavorings. The vegetable extract is then mixed with crushed ice, milk and honey. Honey is used, instead of sugar, to make the shake more nutritious. The vegetable shake comes in three sizes: small, regular and large and is priced at P20.00, P25.00 and P30.00 respectively. It is served in a special plastic glass container with the brand name Healthy Start printed on it.
The Pita Veggie, on the other hand, is a special kind of thin crust bread made from whole wheat. The crust then is served with vegetables filling. The filling is a combination of lettuce, white onions, tomatoes, cucumber, mushroom, catsup and mayonnaise. Then it is topped with a variety of fillings like Tuna, Chicken Bacon, Ham & Cheese and Plain, according to the choice of the customers. The pita bread is heated in the oven to be served hot. Then the fillings are added thus it is called pita veggie. Each serving costs P 25.00.
