Headed by Paraluman Salamat and advised by Ms. Emmylou Llorca, MBA, a team composed of Matias Bandal, Jona Comendador, Fatima Salise, Lucille Deslate, Hazel Sendrijas, and Ronna Untal decided to put up their very own ice cream business.
“We’ve always loved ice cream. Every after lunch, we chat heartily over a cone of ice cream. This sweet habit of ours strengthened our friendship even more. So we thought, why not make our own ice cream store?” Ara remarked when asked about how they came up with the business idea.
What started out as a 160-page business plan, initially done as a Project Feasibility course requirement in the University of San Carlos, turned into a reality. And so, Sorbetes Bai! Ice Cream came to be.
“It’s tough and we’ve come across a lot of ups and downs, but it’s very fulfilling to see our vision realized.” Jona said.
Sorbetes Bai! Ice Cream, which opened successfully on May 4, 2009, is located in the Globe Telecom Plaza cafeteria in I.T. Park, Lahug. Designed with a relaxed and comfortable setting, Sorbetes Bai! Ice cream offers employees from the different offices and buildings within I.T. Park a place to soothe their stress away after a hard day’s work.
“We decided to call it Sorbetes Bai! because we thought of selling ice cream flavors close to every Filipino’s heart. Our customers can have their pick of melon, mango, buko pandan, fruit salad, ube, ube macapuno, and the classic favorites like chocolate, mocha, and cookies and cream. We’re thinking of adding more flavors like chocolate marble, avocado, and durian,” disclosed Ronna, who came up with the business name.
