University Administration and the staff of the
Library System marked a milestone on Thursday, 8 September 2011: the
topping-off ceremony for one of its major infrastructure projects, that is, the
University’s Learning Resource Center located on a panoramic hilltop at
Talamban Campus. Construction work started in November 2010.
A topping-off ceremony is a symbolic rite that
declares the structural completion of the construction of a building. The
project is the realization of a dream of the USC Board of Trustees, Administrators,
librarians and the entire academic community to have the University’s central
library sit on its largest campus in Cebu City. The short but meaningful ceremony was attended
by Fr. President Dionisio Miranda SVD, Dr. Pericles Dakay and a number of SVDs.
Dr. Marilou Tadlip, erstwhile Director of Libraries, was also present for the
said occasion.
