The Heart of Guidance Services

The school provides the time, the place, and the personnel required for skilled assistance to individual students in working out solutions to personal concern that will lead them to a better self-understanding and adjustment to life. It may be done individually or in a group.  Counselors do Follow-up and call on students for:

  • Academic follow-up.  To provide help to students who may need extra assistance in achieving academic and college adjustment.
  • Personal/social follow-up.  It is done to check on students’ progress or well-being. This may be after counseling, the initial interview, or the referral to other persons.
  • Exit interview.  It is conducted during the students’ last year in college to follow-up on their career plans and preparedness for work.  This facilitates future linkage with graduates who may need assistance.  Relevant information from the students is also used to enhance guidance services and programs.

The Guidance Office facilitates the process of Referral.  Counselors link students to other school personnel/office who can further assist them with their concerns.  The same assistance is given when students or parents/guardians can be best helped by outside professional or agencies.
