Accountancy students are champions in 2023 Deloitte Tax Challenge

National champion Team Happy and Deloitted is composed of 3rd year Accountancy students (from left) Lawrence C. Sarigumba, Nefalin B. Demafiles, Danielle Mae Louise T. Go, and Christian Ian E. Omandam. Go was also named 2nd Best Speaker of the competition.

Team Happy and Deloitted, composed of third-year B.S. Accountancy students Nefalin B. Demafiles, Danielle Mae Louise T. Go, Christian Ian E. Omandam, and Lawrence C. Sarigumba, was declared champion in the National Round of the Deloitte Tax Challenge 2023 held at the Deloitte Philippines Main Office, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig on November 24, 2023. 

This marks the first time that a Carolinian team won the championship in the said competition. Moreover, Go received an Individual Speaker Award for being the second-best speaker.

The Deloitte Tax Challenge comprised three phases: video presentation, essay writing, and the national round. Out of the initial 37 teams nationwide, only ten made it to the final phase where they were tasked to create a written memo and an oral presentation in 90 minutes.

Aside from Team Happy and Deloitted, USC also sent two other teams composed of fourth-year Accountancy students, who placed 4th and 5th. They were accompanied by Atty. Jun Marlon Denila.
