Basic Ed Director Jugar appointed to Nat’l. Basic Ed Commission

USC’s Basic Education Director Richard R. Jugar, Ph.D. was appointed to the Commission on National Basic Education (NBEC) at the request of NBEC Chairperson Msgr. Ely Rafael D. Fuentes last February 23, 2018. USC President Fr. Dionisio M. Miranda formalized Dr. Jugar’s appointment by giving his endorsement last February 26th.

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) has mandated the NBEC to improve basic education by formulating and implementing policies and programs to benefit all academic institutions in the country, and not limited only to member schools.

In his letter, Msgr. Fuentes recognized Dr. Jugar’s strong foundation and extensive experience in Basic Education that would enrich NBEC’s core team while representing the regions. Dr. Jugar is expected to contribute to strategic directions and formulate policies and programs pertinent to Basic Education.

Dr. Jugar is Assistant Professor and former chair of the Department of Science and Mathematics Education before he was appointed as Basic Education Director. He obtained his Ph.D. in Education from USC, concentrating on research instrumentation and science process skills. He also serves as a national mobile trainer in science for the Senior High School transition of the Private Education Assistance Committee, which is a trustee of the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (PEAC-FAPE).
