Pharmacy student bags 1st place in national oral research presentation

Lord Sam B. Liston, a B.S Pharmacy student of the USC Department of Pharmacy grabbed the 1st place in the Oral Research Presentation category during the 2023 Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) National Convention at SMX Convention Center Clark, Pampanga on May 23-26, 2023.

Liston’s and Precious Lorraine A. Rivas’ study “Chemical Permeation Enhancers for Topically Applied Vitamin C and its Derivatives: A Systematic Review” bested four other podium finalists and 50 other submissions nationwide which tackled different themes such as drug discovery and development, academic pharmacy, digital pharmacy, among others. 

Liston was mentored by Dr. Florencio V. Arce Jr., his research adviser, and Dr. Gerard Lee L. See, dean of the School of Health Care Professions. 

This year’s annual convention with the theme, “Transformational Pharmacy Practice for Sustainable Healthcare,” gathered over 5,000 Filipino pharmacists in the country together with industry executives and other affiliated organizations in the pharmacy practice. 

Aside from the oral research presentations, the event also hosted plenary sessions, trade exhibits, research competitions (poster), and a general assembly for membership in the organization.
