External Grants

Support for our flagship research programs in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, business, education, and humanities is obtained mainly from government grants through the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Commission on Higher Education, as well as from smaller grants from industries and local government units.

Internal Grants

Despite the pandemic, researchers continue to enjoy release time for research and creative works. The Research, Development, Extension, and Publications Office manages the University Research Trust Fund, which provides seed money for projects that have no external funding. For two semesters in AY2020-21, the University continued to allocate internal research grants and counterpart funding to faculty researchers amounting to over PHP2.7M (USD54T).

Grants Management

External grants are managed by a Grants Management Office for Research under the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The office provides oversight over the financial management of projects and ensures that obligations toward the funding agencies are delivered.
