USC inks CBA with the College Faculty Independent Union

On September 8, 2022, on the occasion of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the University inked a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the University’s College Faculty Independent Union (CFIU) as the sole and exclusive negotiating representative of permanent tertiary faculty members of the University.

Left to right (seated): Atty. Joan Largo (Asst. VP Academic Affairs and Chief Negotiator for USC), Fr. Generoso Ricardo Rebayla, Jr., SVD (VP Administration), Fr. Narciso A. Cellan, Jr., SVD (University President), Dr. Levy Lanaria (CFIU President and Chief Negotiator for CFIU), Atty. Guiller Ceniza (CFIU co-counsel). Left to right (standing): Gino Bagano (CFIU member/panel member), Jonnah Faelnar (CFIU Secretary), Grace Socorro Yomo (CFIU VP Downtown Campus/panel member), Jonnah Uy (CFIU Treasurer), Radel Paredes (CFIU Media Officer/panel member), Nestor Pacana (Executive Board Member/panel member), and Atty. Edmund Lao (CFIU co-counsel).

Ushering in an era of close collaboration between the management and its permanent faculty members at the tertiary level, the CBA addressed crucial employment provisions ranging from salary and benefits to extent of faculty load and number of teaching preparations.

Hope was expressed that with the core agreement in place, a more robust engagement and collaboration will take place to enhance faculty well-being and delivery of instruction in USC.

The CBA was concluded with Dr. Levy Lanaria serving as Chief Negotiator for CFIU and Atty. Joan Largo as Chief Negotiator for USC. The CBA received its Certificate of Registration from the Department of Labor and Employment last November 3, 2022.
