USC reaps health research awards

Six awards were given to the University of San Carlos during the 3rd Annual Central Visayas Health Research and Innovation Conference on May 8-9, 2018 at the Cebu Normal University.

The conference was organized by the Department of Science and Technology Region VII, the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), and the Central Visayas Consortium for Health Research and Development (CVCHRD), in cooperation with Cebu Normal University.

USC was granted the Engr. Rene Burt N. Llanto Research Excellence Award in recognition of excellence across a range of health research and development activities. The University was also awarded the Dir. Elena O. Diola Research Collaboration Award for dedication in promoting research commitment, collaboration, and excellence among institutions.

A paper presented by Fatima A. Alferez, Maureen Mathilde D. Cabahug, and Dinesse A. Labiros (Biology) won 1st place in the Student Podium Competition, while Jame Bryan L. Batara and co-researchers (Psychology) won 2nd place in the Professional Podium Competition, and a poster presented by Angie M. Ceniza and co-researchers (Computer Science and Information Technology) won 2nd place in the Student Poster Exhibit Competition.

The final award was the SHARE People’s Choice Award for a website developed by the University on “Siquijor: The Healing Paradise.”
